DURHAM, N.C. – Louisville scored four runs in both the first and fourth frames end No. 17 Duke’s ACC Championship run with a 9-2 decision Friday afternoon at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Jimmy Herron singled in the first and doubled in the fifth to extend his on-base streak to 35 games, while Joey Loperfido went 3-for-4 to raise his average to a team-best .314. But Louisville (42-16) had three hits with the bases loaded and Duke (40-15) was unable to overcome the slow start, trailing 4-0 after one and 8-1 after four.
