DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women’s tennis team maintained its winning ways Saturday during day two of the Kitty Harrison Invitational in Durham, N.C., as the Blue Devils registered a 5-1 singles mark against opposition from LSU and a 2-1 record versus Penn State doubles tandems. Duke has combined to go 10-1 in singles and 6-3 in doubles over the first two days of the three-day event.
Duke opened Saturday’s competition with the final doubles contests of the invitational. The pair of juniors Chalena Scholl and Alyssa Smith, competing together for the first time this fall, outlasted Penn State’s duo of Jacqueline Zuhse and Katherine Whiteaway, 7-5, while sophomore Rebecca Smaller and freshman Jessica Ho convincinglydefeated Penn State’s Katia Blik and Kelly Mengel, 6-2.
