RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — Both Duke University golfers competing in the 2016 Olympic games went under-par Thursday in the second round at the Reserva de Marapendi in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Leona Maguire carded a six-under, 65, while Laetitia Beck signed for a one-under, 70, as the golfers finished 36 holes of action.
Maguire posted the tied for third-lowest round of the day with a six-under-par, 65. A product of Cavan, Ireland, Maguire registered a total of seven birdies in the second round to move into red numbers for the tournament.
For the second straight day, Maguire birdied the opening hole as she stuck her approach shot from 66 yards out to within seven inches.
