CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Fourteenth-ranked Virginia scored with 1:42 remaining in the second overtime to hand No. 20 Duke a heartbreaking, 3-2, setback in ACC field hockey action this evening at UVA Turf Field. Amber Ezechiels scored the winner for the Cavaliers.
Duke drops to 4-6 overall and 0-3 in ACC play, while Virginia improves to 7-3 and 2-1 against conference foes.
"It's so fun [to coach in a game like this]," said head coach Pam Bustin. "When a game is this close it's fun when it's truly competitive, not when your team isn't competing and you should be doing better.
