CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Led by hat tricks from sophomore Kyra Harney and seniors Maddy Acton and Kelci Smesko, the 12th-ranked Duke women’s lacrosse team downed Loyola, 14-8, Friday in NCAA first round action at North Carolina’s Fetzer Field. The Blue Devils led by four at halftime and dominated possession down the stretch to set up a second-round meeting with the third-seeded Tar Heels Sunday at 1 p.m.
Freshman Olivia Jenner corralled 10 draw controls to help Duke (11-8) take the category by an 18-6 margin.
