DURHAM, N.C. – The seventh-ranked Duke women's lacrosse team secured a 13-12 victory over No. 12 Maryland on Sunday afternoon in second round action of the NCAA Championship.
With the victory, the Blue Devils advance to their 16th NCAA quarterfinal appearance under the direction of head coach Kerstin Kimel. Duke (11-7) advances to the Elite 8 for the first time since 2015.
"I had a lot of faith in our team," Kimel said. "I'm just so proud of our kids. I mean, no one on this team has made it to the quarterfinals, including Gabby Rosenzweig.
