DURHAM – Duke University rookie Shayeann Day-Wilson, along with the Blue Devil women's basketball team, were honored this week by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA).
Day-Wilson was tabbed the National Freshman of the Week, while Duke earned the women's national team of the week.
A 5-6 guard from Toronto, Ont., Canada, Day-Wilson had 19 points, four assists and was 3-4 from the line in the home upset of then-No. 9 Iowa in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and followed up by scoring 14 in the win at Penn in The Palestra in Philadelphia.
