NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The ninth-ranked Duke men’s fencing team went 4-0 Sunday at the Northwestern Duals while the women compiled a 4-1 record. After both teams went 4-2 during the first day of competition, the Duke men finish the Northwestern Duals at 8-2, followed by the women at 8-3. On the season, the Blue Devil men have compiled an 11-4 record through two meets, while the women sit at 11-5 on the year.
In its four victories Sunday, the Duke men downed Detroit-Mercy (25-2), Air Force (16-11), Cal Tech (24-3) and Cleveland State (21-6). The Duke women’s team’s four wins came by defeating Lawrence (26-1), Cleveland State (27-0), Cal Tech (23-4) and Detroit Mercy (26-1), while picking up its only loss to fifth-ranked Northwestern (20-7).
