After winning the Gatorade awards for the state of Missouri three times and the national award for boys’ basketball, Duke freshman Jayson Tatum was awarded with the overall Gatorade Athlete of the Year award given to the top high school athlete. He becomes the second Blue Devil to win the prestigious award joining 2005 winner Greg Paulus.

Tatum dominated in his senior year averaging 29.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game for Chaminade College Prep in St. Louis and was regarded as one of the top recruits in the country. He’s scored at least 40 points six times this year including in the state championship game.
