DURHAM – Duke came up short in the rubber game against North Carolina, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in downtown Durham.
The Blue Devils drop to 11-9 on the season and 2-4 in ACC play while North Carolina moves to 17-3 overall and 5-1 in conference action.
Graduate student Wil Hoyle led the Blue Devils offensively, finishing 2-for-3 with two of Duke's three hits.
Junior Billy Seidl started on the mound for Duke, allowing three runs on nine hits and two walks in five innings pitched to be tagged with the loss.
