DURHAM – Duke scored four of the game's final five goals, but the second-ranked Blue Devils' comeback effort came up just short in a 14-12 setback to Jacksonville University in men's lacrosse action Sunday afternoon at Koskinen Stadium.
Jacksonville graduate student Max Waldbaum finished his day with four goals and two assists for six points. Jack Dolan chipped in three goals and an assist as the Dolphins built a 13-7 advantage early in the fourth quarter.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair with teams trading goals and the lead. The opening 30 minutes alone featured five ties and five lead changes with neither team leading by more than a goal until the final minute of the second stanza.
