The Duke basketball program has a new assistant coach in William Avery.
The chatter surrounding the Duke basketball program has finally come true as William Avery has been named as the newest assistant coach of the Blue Devils.
Head coach Jon Scheyer made the announcement official on Friday afternoon in a press release and social media video.
Avery does not replace Amile Jefferson on the coaching staff, who left for an assistant coaching role with the Boston Celtics, because of NCAA rules passed on July 1 that state there can be two full time on-court coaching positions in men’s basketball.
