When you think of any blowout victory by a Duke basketball team during Coach K’s time as head coach, a barrage of three-pointers likely had something to do with it.
And, more times than not, it was a shooting guard who led the launching of all those long-range missiles.
Whenever the Blue Devils’ attack turns into one shot after another whipping the bottom of the net with no end in sight, opponents quickly become rattled and disheartened. Victories almost always ensue for Duke.
But the job description of Coach K’s best shooting guards has also included other responsibilities: scoring from all distances, playing point guard when the team requires it, and often being the most hated and feared player on the court in the eyes of fans who never stop rooting against Duke.
