If you’re not familiar with the site, kenpom.com is one of the most respected sources in college basketball for advanced analytics. The rankings account for tempo adjusted statistics and look at the numbers in greater depth, similar to what we’ve seen with sabermetrics in baseball.
It’s as irrelevant as any other preseason ranking, but Duke is at the top of the Kenpom rankings as we enter the 2015-16 season based on having a Top 10 offense and defense.
For comparison, the Blue Devils finished last season at the No. 4 spot in the rankings, behind Kentucky, Arizona and Wisconsin.
