The first time that the ACC Tournament was held in Washington, D.C., former Duke basketball star J.J. Redick took home a trophy as the tournament’s MVP while the Blue Devils took home a trophy as the tournament’s champions after beating Georgia Tech, 69-64, in the title game.
Here’s some good news for Duke fans who believe that a program’s previous success in a city is good luck for future success in that same city: ACC commissioner John Swofford announced that the conference tournament will be returning to the nation’s capital in 2021 and will take place at the Capital One Arena.
