CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior Josephine Palde and senior Charlie van Oirschot scored goals and the third-ranked Blue Devils stifled the Wake Forest attack to earn a 2-0 win in the ACC Field Hockey Championship quarterfinal Tuesday afternoon.
Seeded second in the tournament, Duke outshot No. 7 seed Wake Forest 17-4 to improve to 15-3 overall and advance to the ACC semifinals for the first time since 2018. The Demon Deacons conclude their season with an 8-9 record overall.
Duke goaltender Piper Hampsch recorded her sixth shutout of the season, and the Blue Devils posted their seventh overall.
