Mike DeCourcy has emerged as one of the leading champions of the college-to-pro model so it’s no surprise that he takes a bit of the air out of the RJ Hampton-to-the-NBL-is-a-new-paradigm argument.
From his article: “If Hampton doesn’t wish to study any longer and just wants to play basketball, there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s not necessarily a wise decision, though. For whatever short-term money he’ll make, he will miss the opportunity to promote his brand through dozens of nights on national television at Duke or Memphis or Kansas or wherever. Hopefully he enjoyed his few minutes on ESPN, because that’ll be about it until the NBA combine in May 2020.
