DURHAM, N.C. – With the help from the Fence for the Fight campaign in 2023, a room in the Duke Cancer Center was named in memoriam of the late Elizabeth Beguinet.
Elizabeth, Director of Administration and Recruiting for the Duke fencing program, passed away December 17, 2022 after a long fight with breast cancer.
The Duke fencing team raised $72,979.70, the largest amount raised in a single season by a Duke Athletics Olympic Sport/Duke Health partnership.
Elizabeth, the wife of former head coach Alex, was not just the team's recruiting coordinator, travel coordinator or seamstress for the uniforms.
