ROME-Florence, Italy – The Duke women’s basketball team closed its trip to Rome, Italy Thursday morning with a tour of the Vatican. The Vatican City, the residence of the Pope, was built over the tomb of Saint Peter. The Blue Devils were amazed with the Vatican City, which includes 11 Vatican Museums, including Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel and Vatican Gardens.
Following the visit to the Vatican, the Blue Devils enjoyed a lunch around the Vatican City, before heading to Florence, Italy via high speed train.
Duke was able to enjoy a quiet evening in Florence before getting ready for a busy next couple of days in the beautiful city.
