UNC got a major addition Thursday when Dawson Garcia pulled out of the NBA Draft and decided to leave Shaka Smart’s nascent Marquette program - he had played for Steve Wojciechowski before Wojo was fired - and will now play for UNC, starting this fall.
This answers one big question we had about Hubert Davis’s program: would he continue with the Dean Smith/Roy WIlliams tradition of using two big men? Or would he modernize and go with a more positionless plan?
It looks as if he’ll stick with the basic scheme. Garcia wouldn’t be going to UNC if he weren’t pretty sure he’d be starting alongside Armando Bacot.
