DURHAM, N.C.—With the sun having just set on Duke’s 16-1 win over Richmond the night prior, Blue Devil men’s lacrosse assistant coach Matt Danowski is watching it rise this time as he awaits his flight at Raleigh Durham Airport to embarks on his ninth season in Major League Lacrosse Saturday night.
Danowski will take off his coaching hat for a few hours Saturday as he suits up for the Chesapeake Bayhawks. They will be a part of history as the first opponent of the latest MLL expansion team Atlanta Blaze, which also will be the home of Myles Jones, Deemer Class and Case Matheis when their collegiate careers come to an end in May.
