GREENVILLE, S.C.—Duke men’s lacrosse head coach John Danowski became the first Division I coach to reach 400 career wins tonight as the second-ranked Blue Devils bested Furman 17-9 in the 2019 season opener at Paladin Stadium. Danowski, the all-time Division I wins leader, is the third head coach across all three NCAA divisions to reach the benchmark.
Danowski, sporting a 400-194 career record, is 181-55 at Duke and moves to 11-2 in season openers. The Blue Devils move to 1-0 in their earliest start to a season in school history.
Sophomore attackman Joe Robertson led all scorers with four goals and an assist for five points, while senior CJ Carpenter registered his first career hat trick.
