SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Freshman pitcher Cassidy Curd threw her first career no-hitter on Friday afternoon to help lift No. 6 Duke (45-9, 19-5 ACC) past No. 9 Clemson (46-9, 18-6 ACC), 2-0, and into the ACC Championship game.
Curd became the first rookie to throw a no-no at the ACC tournament and recorded the sixth overall at the postseason event. She also tallied Duke's third no-hitter on the year and first solo seven-inning no-no in program history. The Blue Devils now have six overall no-hitters in school lore.
In Friday's semifinal at Melissa Cook Stadium, Curd sat down the first four batters before allowing her first baserunner on a hit-by-pitch.
