DURHAM, N.C. – For the first time in school history, Duke has two players taken in the top three rounds after the Chicago Cubs selected junior outfielder Jimmy Herron in the third round (No. 98 overall) of the 2018 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft.
Herron is the seventh Blue Devil drafted in the third round or higher, joining classmate Griffin Conine who was picked by the Toronto Blue Jays in the second round (No. 52 overall) of this year’s draft.
