DURHAM – Senior Chris Crabtree went 5-for-5 and a double shy of the cycle to lead the Blue Devils past Virginia Tech, 11-6, in game one of the three-game series on Friday night at Jack Coombs Field.
After trailing 4-1 after the third inning, Duke (22-20, 11-17 ACC) scored 10 consecutive runs, including eight runs in the eighth inning to power past the Hokies and take a 11-4 lead. Crabtree's career-high five hits, two triples, a home run, four runs and two RBIs led the Blue Devils at the plate. Junior Ethan Murray and sophomore Chad Knight also enjoyed solid days in the box, ach recording three hits and an RBI.
