KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Duke freshman Michelle Cooper has been named a first-team All-American by United Soccer Coaches, as announced by the organization Thursday.
Cooper becomes the first freshman in program history to earn All-America status and is the only newcomer listed on this year's First Team. The Clarkston, Mich., native is Duke's 16th All-American since 1992 (20 total honors).
Recently tapped a semifinalist for the coveted MAC Hermann Trophy, Cooper's All-America selection is the latest recognition of a sensational freshman campaign. The forward tied for second in goals (12) and fifth in points (29) among all freshmen nationally, while ranking in the top five in the ACC in each category.
