DURHAM, N.C. – Former Duke baseball outfielder Griffin Conine was elevated to the Miami Marlins on Sunday. Conine becomes the 48th Duke player to make his MLB debut in program history and third this season.
The Weston, Florida, native was selected in the second round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays and was acquired by the Marlins during the 2020 season, in a trade sending Jonathan Villar to Toronto. In his three years at Duke, Conine posted a .280 average at the plate, starting 155 of the 156 games he appeared in.
