On Tuesday, the NCAA moved with surprising speed (read: pressured by California law) to allow players to profit from their name image and likeness “in a manner consistent with the collegiate model.”
That doesn’t mean it’s all set.
Now each division - I, II and III - has to figure out how to do this. Naturally, it has gone to committee, which is what the NCAA is really best at. Someone send in supplies and flashlights. They’re bound to get lost on the way out.
The NCAA wants to make sure that the new rules are ”transparent, focused and enforceable.
