As you probably know, Duke had a major road win at Virginia Tech Friday night, laying an historic 45-10 win on the Hokies.
Steve Wiseman points out that this was the worst home loss for Virginia Tech since 1950. Harry Truman was the US president. Stalin was still running the USSR. Mao Tse-Tung had just emerged victorious in the Chinese Revolution. The US army had only been integrated for two years.
Virginia Tech and Duke were both still in the Southern Conference.
