PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – A pair of Blue Devils, sophomore Ellyse Hamlin and freshman Meible Chi, opened play at the 2016 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., Saturday, with Chi posting consecutive victories during the first two rounds of the pre-qualifying singles draw.
Chi opened pre-qualifying singles play with a convincing 7-6 (4), 6-1 win over Arkansas’ Shannon Hudson, before returning to the courts and defeating Ohio State’s 99th-ranked Miho Kowase in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 7-5. With the back-to-back victories, Chi improved her singles record this fall to a perfect 5-0.
