ORLANDO, Fla. - Duke women's tennis sophomore Kelly Chen advanced to the semifinals of the USTA Blizzard Wild Card Challenge after concluding 2-1 in group play Sunday evening in Orlando, Fla.
Chen, tabbed No. 37 in the ITA rankings, kicked off competition Saturday with a victory over No. 27 Brienne Minor of Michigan (6-3, 6-4) before dominating the No. 2 singles player in the country, North Carolina's Makenna Jones, Sunday morning (6-0, 6-1). The Cerritos, Calif., native capped round-robin play Sunday evening, falling to Stanford's No. 103 Michaela Gordon (7-6, 2-6, 10-4).
