DURHAM – Former Duke letterman Michael Carter II was named Monday the recipient of the University Scholar-Athlete award by the National Football Foundation's Bill Dooley Chapter.
Carter II, a safety from Douglasville, Ga., wrapped up his Duke career having compiled 135 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, four interceptions, 24 pass breakups, one caused fumble and one fumble recovery in 46 career games. A 2020 third team All-ACC honoree and three-time Academic All-ACC selection, he graduated in December of 2020 after majoring in public policy with a certificate in markets and management.
