DURHAM, N.C. – With the Duke women’s golf program winning its seventh NCAA Championship last week, one of the benefits Blue Devil head coach Dan Brooks was presented with was he would provide one of his team members with an exemption to play in the LPGA Tour’s Marathon Classic in July. Brooks announced live on the Golf Channel Wednesday evening that lone senior Virginia Elena Carta would be the recipient.
Carta, a native of Udine, Italy, will compete in the Marathon Classic for the second time in her career. She received an exemption to play in the tournament in 2016, after winning the NCAA Individual Championship as a rookie.
