REUNION, Fla. – In her first collegiate tournament since winning the 2016 NCAA Championship, Duke University sophomore Virginia Elena Carta carded a two-under-par, 70, to lead the Blue Devils on day one of the Annika Intercollegiate at the Reunion Resort in Reunion, Fla.
Carta, who hails from Udine, Italy, registered two pars, before suffering a bogey on No. 12 to open her round Sunday. She went into red numbers, after notching her second eagle of her collegiate career on the 475-yard, par five 14th hole. Carta hit driver, then three-wood to within seven feet and drained the eagle putt to get to one-under-par.
