DURHAM, N.C. – The honors for recent Duke University women’s golf graduate Virginia Elena Carta keep rolling in as the NCAA has announced Carta is one of a record 585 female college athletes that have been nominated by the NCAA member schools for the 2019 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
Established in 1991, the NCAA Woman of the Year award recognizes graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.
Carta, the 2016 NCAA Individual Champion, capped her impressive career with a NCAA team championship in May helping lead the Blue Devils to their seventh NCAA title in school history.
