SYLVANIA, Ohio— After turning in rounds of 71 and 69 the first two days at the LPGA Marathon Classic, Duke University sophomore Virginia Elena Carta concluded the weekend with scores of 77 and 75 to finish 69th with a 72-hole score of 292 at the Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio.
Carta, who hails from Udine, Italy, was the only amateur to make the cut in the event and she finished as the low amateur in the classic. In the final round, she hit 11 fairways, 13 greens and had 33 putts. Carta rounded out the tournament hitting 52-of-72 greens in regulation and averaged a drive of 249.
