DURHAM, N.C. --The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the names of its regional award winners for the 2016 season, honoring Duke senior Beatrice Capra as the Carolina Region Senior Player of the Year. Monday’s announcement marks Capra’s second ITA regional honor of her college career, after the Ellicott City, Md., native garnered ITA Carolina Region Rookie of the Year accolades during her freshman campaign.
Capra recorded a well-rounded senior season in Durham, posting a 9-6 mark in singles action and a 17-12 ledger in doubles play. Earlier in the season, Capra earned ACC Player of the Week honors after helping the Blue Devils qualify for the 2016 ITA National Women’s Team Indoor Championships with a win over then 29th-ranked Mississippi State.
