ROCKVILLE, Md. – Phoebe Brinker and Gina Kim of the Duke women's golf program advanced to the match play portion at the 120th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, which is being contested at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md.
Brinker, who hails from Wilmington, Del., turned in rounds of 70 and 72 over the 36 holes of stroke play qualifying to place tied for second with a two-under-par, 142. In the first round, Brinker carded three birdies on her way to signing for a two-under, 70. She posted an even-par, 72, in the second round Wednesday as she notched 16 pars, one birdie and one bogey.
