CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Following under-par scores in the second round of the 2017 U.S. Women’s Amateur, Duke University golfers Jaravee Boonchant and Virginia Elena Carta finished in the top 25 of stroke play qualifying at the San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif.
Carta, who is coming off a runner-up appearance at the 2016 U.S. Women’s Amateur, fired a three-under-par, 69, Tuesday to move into a tie for 20th. A native of Udine, Italy, Carta opened her round on hole 10 and suffered her lone bogey of the day on No. 11.
