ELON, N.C. – Duke men's and women's cross country opened the season with a Friday night sweep at the Elon Opener, with each finishing first among the 12-team and 10-team field respectively.
No. 23 men's cross country finished with 20 points on the 6K course, 55 ahead of the next closest finisher East Carolina. Women's cross country took home first with 22 points on the 4K course, 15 ahead of the host Elon.
Sophomore Charlotte Tomkinson took home top honors on the women's side, winning the race with a time of 13:32.
