DURHAM, N.C. – On a day to celebrate the accomplishments of a deep senior class, the Duke track & field program shattered several records en route to a historic day in the home finale at the Duke Twilight on Monday.
The first event of the day brought the Blue Devils an early victory. Freshman Moorea Mitchell earned first place in the women's hammer, recording a throw of 51.16m (167-10 feet) for her second-best throw of the season.
Mitchell's win set the tone for a historic day, as the first record book addition came shortly thereafter.
