DURHAM – The grind officially started for Duke field hockey Wednesday morning on Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium. The Blue Devils hit the turf for the first of many preseason practices before the open the 2023 campaign Aug. 25 against Indiana.
The morning started with fitness testing with the Blue Devils pushing through the heat and humidity. They followed with skill work Duke will hold two practices per day in addition to an intrasquad scrimmage as well as a pair of exhibition matches at VCU and North Carolina, Aug. 17 and 20, respectively.
The Blue Devils return 91 percent of their scoring from a season ago as well as eight regular starters, including top scorer Hannah Miller.
