WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Duke women's tennis team opened action at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Fall Regionals on Thursday by posting a 5-0 ledger in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Duke junior collected a 2-0 record in singles as she knocked off Georgia Fischer of Wofford, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the morning. She then collected a 7-6 (4), 6-4 win over Virginia Poggi of Appalachian State in the afternoon to move on in qualifying. Berankova, who hails from Prague, Czech Republic, will next face Sara Snyder of Furman in the round of 16.
All three of the Blue Devil doubles teams moved on Thursday.
