PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The second-ranked Duke women’s golf team opened the 2016 spring campaign Sunday with a one-over-par, 285, and is tied second overall at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge played at the 6,017-yard, par 71 Palos Verdes Golf Club.
Alabama opened with a six-under-par, 278, to take the team lead, while Duke (285), Washington (285), Florida (287), North Carolina (288), Arizona State (291), UCLA (293), Southern California (295), Oklahoma State (299) and Arizona (300) rounded out the top 10.
Duke’s Leona Maguire, currently the No. 1 ranked amateur golfer in the world, paced the Blue Devils with a two-under-par, 69, Sunday and is tied third overall.
