HILTON HEAD, S.C. – In a week that the flu went through the team and an injury sprang up during the practice round, the third-ranked Duke women’s golf team made it through the first round Friday at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate with five scores and a five-over, 289, to sit in fourth place.
South Carolina opened that action with a two-under, 282, to jump out to a two-stroke lead, while Florida State (284), Wake Forest (285), Duke (289) and LSU (290) rounded out the top five teams competing at the 6,160-yard, Par 71 Pete Dye Course at the Long Cover Club in Hilton Head, S.
