SYRACUSE, N.Y. – In a meeting of top-four ACC squads, fourth-ranked Syracuse used a high-scoring first half to hand No. 2 Duke a 5-1 loss Friday at the Orange’s J.S. Coyne Stadium.
Syracuse tallied all five scores on penalty corner opportunities while the Blue Devils (10-2, 3-1 ACC) struggled to find a rhythm until late in the contest.
Roos Weers put Syracuse in front in the ninth minute, scoring on the Orange’s second penalty corner of the contest. Weers would find the back of the cage again on another corner opportunity 10 minutes later before Emma Lamison followed with a third corner goal.
