PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – In a contest that featured three lead changes and six ties, 15th-ranked Duke took eighth-ranked Penn to the brink but came up just short in 10-9 loss to the Quakers Saturday at Franklin Field.
Facing a two-goal deficit midway through the second half, the Blue Devils fought back to tie the contest with five minutes remaining. However, the squad was unable to answer a final tally by the Quakers (7-1), falling to 6-2 on the season.
Senior goalkeeper Jamie Lockwood totaled nine saves in her first start of the season, anchoring a defensive unit that held Penn below its season scoring average.
