VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Duke fencing team concluded its preseason slate over the weekend at the January North American Cup (NAC), hosted by the United States Fencing Association in Virginia Beach, Va. The weekend was highlighted by senior Bryn Hammarberg’s top-25 performance in Division I Men’s Epee.
Hammarberg, a 2017 All-American, finished in 22nd place over the weekend in epee after posting a 4-2 ledger in pool play. The Maplewood, N.J., native fell to eventual fifth-place finisher Iliya Mechkov in the table of 32.
Sophomore Lindsay Sapienza hit the strips for the first time during the pre-season this weekend and placed 36th in Division I Women’s Saber.
