RIVIERA MAYA, Mexico – Behind very balanced scoring, the 15th-ranked Duke women’s basketball team closed out the Cancun Challenge Saturday with an 85-34 victory over Texas State to take home the Mayan Tournament championship at the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
Sophomore Azurá Stevens scored a game-high 19 points and was named MVP of the tournament, while redshirt sophomore Rebecca Greenwell was selected to the Mayan All-Tournament team.
Duke improved to 6-1 on the season, while Texas State dropped to 2-4. The Blue Devils won all three contests in the Cancun Challenge by an average of 31.
