Sophomore catcher Chris Proctor was recently selected to join the 2017 Johnny Bench Award Watch List. The award is given to the top catcher in college baseball at the end of each NCAA season.
Chris Proctor had an excellent freshman year for the Blue Devils, and was the starting catcher in 46 games for Duke last season. He only committed one error in 309 chances with a .997 fielding percentage as a rookie in 2016. The watch list for the Johnny Bench Award currently contains 85 catchers, but will be trimmed down later this season on May 1.
